Role: Using the might of their weapon and armor veils alongside the abilities granted by their soul allows the soulforge to fulfill a variety of roles, though they always excel at combat; besting their enemies through their martial prowess empowered by their veils and the abilities granted by their forged souls.

The following are the class features of the soulforge.

Proficiencies[]

A soulforge is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with all armor (heavy, light, and medium) and shields (excluding tower shields).

Veilweaving[]

A soulforge learns to shape the magical power known as akasha into powerful veils, which are drawn from the soulforge veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The soulforge uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the soulforge’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the soulforge’s veilweaving modifier.

At 1st level, the soulforge gains access to a pool of essence which can be invested into their veils and other essence receptacles to increase their power. The soulforge gains 1 point of essence at each class level except 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20.

At 1st level, the soulforge gains the ability to shape a limited number of veils each day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additionalveil each day at 6th, 12th, and 18th level.

Bonus Combat Feat[]

At 1st level, the soulforge gains a bonus combat feat. They must meet the prerequisites of this feat. At 6th, 11th, and 16th level they gain an additional bonus combat feat of their choice.

In addition, the soulforge counts their class level as their fighter level for the purposes of qualifying for feats. If they have fighter levels, these levels stack.

Soul Forging[]

The soulforge has learned to forge their soul with the essence of an ancient hero recorded within the akashic record. This forged soul grants them unique abilities, and 2 temporary skill ranks per class level which can be assigned to the soul’s associated skills. The soulforge also treats the soul’s associated skills as class skills while they have the soul forged.

The soulforge can only have a single forged soul at a time; each time they shape their veils for the day they can change their forged soul. When the soulforge changes their forged soul, they lose all the abilities and skill ranks granted by the replaced soul.

At 2nd level, forging their soul also allows the soulforge to shape a selection of veils that are associated with their forged soul. At 2nd level, they may shape 1 veil associated with their forged soul, and may shape an additional associated veil at 4th, 10th, and 16th level.

The soulforge cannot directly invest essence in the veils associated with their forged soul. Instead, they invest essence in their forged soul directly. All of that soul’s associated veils are treated as if they were invested with that same amount of essence.

Intuitive Crafter[]

At 1st level, the soulforge uses the higher of their Wisdom or their Intelligence modifiers when determining their bonus with the Craft skill.

Chakra Binds[]

At 2nd level, and every two levels thereafter, the soulforge gains the ability to bind veils directly to their chakra, unlocking potent abilities. They gain the ability to bind to slots in the following order: Hands, Feet, Wrists, Head, Shoulders, Headband, Belt, Neck, Chest, Body.

Soulforged Armaments[]

At 2nd level, the soulforge’s veils with the [enhanced] descriptor are only weakened in an area of antimagic, or if sundered or dispelled, rather than being completely suppressed. The soulforge can still utilize and conjure weapons, armor, and shields from their [enhanced] veils during the duration of their suppression, but they lose any supernatural properties granted by the veil. In an area of an antimagic field, or when suppressed by mage’s disjunction, they also lose any magic enhancements they possess for the duration of those effects. This equipment otherwise follows the normal rules for equipment produced by an [enhanced] veil.

Forge Capacity[]

The soulforge’s improvements to the connection between their soul and the akashic record has improved their ability to utilize their essence. At 3rd level, 9th level, and 15th level, the maximum capacity of their forged soul and of their veils with the [enhanced] descriptor increases by +1.

Reforge Feat[]

At 3rd level, when the soulforge shapes their veils for the day they can instantly retrain one of their combat feats to a feat on the following list, or any combat feat that has one of the following feats as a prerequisite:

Combat Expertise, Deadly Aim, Dodge, Heavy Armor Proficiency, Improved Shield Bash, Improved Unarmed Strike, Light Armor Proficiency, Medium Armor Proficiency, Point-Blank Shot, Power Attack, Precise Shot, Shield Focus, Two-Weapon Fighting, Vital Strike, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus.

The soulforge must meet all of the prerequisites for feats they wish to gain using this ability. If a feat they wish to retrain is currently being used as a prerequisite for another, they cannot retrain it without first retraining the feat that requires it as a prerequisite.

At 9th level, and again at 15th level, the soulforge can retrain an additional feat every time they shape their veils for the day. They can use these retrained feats to meet the prerequisites of other feats they retrain during this time.

Soul Fortification[]

At 4th level, the soulforge gains a +2 bonus on their saving throws against death effects and takes no penalties from negative levels, though they can still be killed if they accrue more negative levels then they have Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a soulforge takes are removed without the need for an additional saving throw.

At 9th level, and again at 14th and 19th levels, the soulforge’s bonus to saving throws against death effects increases by +1.

Mighty Finesse[]

At 3rd level, the soulforge uses the higher of their Strength or Dexterity scores as their effective Strength and Dexterity when meeting the prerequisites for combat feats that have either score as a prerequisite.

Soul Enhancement[]

At 5th level, the soulforge can enhance their own soul as if it were an unlimited number of masterwork suits of armor, shields, or weapons. This ability also functions as the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat, save that the soulforge can only use it to enhance their own soul. When using this feat, they may use their class level in place of their caster level and their Craft (armor) or (weapons) skills in place of the Spellcraft skill when enhancing their own soul (Craft (weapons) for enhancing weapons, Craft (armor) for enhancing armor and shields).

The soulforge also gains five skill ranks in both the Craft (armor) and Craft (weapons) skills. If they already have ranks in those skills, they may retrain them as part of gaining this ability. Each class level after 5th, they gain an additional skill rank in both of those skills.

When the soulforge shapes an [enhanced] veil, they can transfer one of these enhancements to that veil, and then back to their soul when the veil is unshaped. If they apply a property that normally can’t be applied to the armor, shield, or weapon the veil is enhancing (such as a ranged weapon property being applied to a melee weapon) that property has no effect. If the soulforge had already enhanced one of their [enhanced] veils before gaining this ability, or has such a veil enhanced by another character or by an item or ability, such as by transference vellum, they can choose to transfer that enhancement to their soul.

The soulforge can also use this ability to draw enhancements from a magical suit of armor, shield, or weapon as well. Drawing an enhancement from such a magical object takes one hour and removes the magical effects from the item, applying the effects to the soulforge’s soul as a new effective suit of armor, shield, or weapon. These enhancements cannot be combined with one of their existing enhancements, but can otherwise be improved as normal. This ability cannot be used on artifacts, cursed items, or other magical items that have special requirements to destroy them.

If the soulforge has the ability to normally enhance armor and weapons (such as if they possess the Craft Magic Arms and Armor feat) they can also transfer enhancements from their soul to an appropriate masterwork item. Doing so takes one hour, and permanently removes the enhancement from the soulforge’s soul, applying it to the item. All enhancements transferred in this way must be legal to be placed on the item, and the soulforge must transfer all of the enhancements off of their souls effective armor, shield, or weapon.

Body with Soul[]

At 7th level, when the soulforge forges their soul for the day, they can swap their Strength and Dexterity scores. This swap includes any permanent bonuses and penalties to those scores as well, such as bonuses granted by their race or a belt of giant strength worn for more than 24 hours. If the soulforge loses one of these bonuses (such as if they remove said belt), the score it was swapped to affect is lowered.

Twin Soul[]

At 10th level, the soulforge may forge a second soul each day. For the purposes of this soul, their class level is treated as 9 levels lower when determining the abilities that soul grants them, and they gain only 1 temporary skill point per class level to assign to the second forged soul’s associated skills. This soul counts as a second essence receptacle, affecting only the veils associated with the soul. This ability does not grant the soulforge additional associated veils shaped each day, but they may shape veils associated with either of their forged souls using their soul veil slots. If a veil the soulforge has shaped is associated with both of their forged souls, they use the soul with the higher number of points of invested essence when determining its effective essence investment.

Twinveil Forge[]

At 12th level, the soulforge can choose to shape and bind their veils with the [enhanced] descriptor in the same slot as another veil. They can only have two veils share the same chakra slot using this ability, even if they shape multiple [enhanced] veils of the same slot. This ability does not stack with the Twin Veil feat, or any other similar ability that allows the soulforge to shape multiple veils in the same slot. If the soulforge already had the Twin Veil feat, they may retrain it upon gaining this ability.

Rapid Enhancement[]

At 13th level, when the soulforge enhances their own soul using the Craft Arms and Armor feat, they complete the enhancement after only 8 hours of work, regardless of its base price.

Immortal Soul Forging[]

At 17th level, the soulforge’s veils with the [enhanced] descriptor become so attuned to the powers of their soul that they can no longer be dealt damage or suppressed by sundering or dispelled, and are no longer affected by anti-magic fields or similar effects.

Soul Paragon[]

At 20th level, the soulforge gains immunity to negative levels and death effects. If the soulforge is killed, their body and their equipment dissipates into the akashic record, only for the soulforge to be returned to life with their equipment one week later at a location on the same plane (or planet, if they died on the material plane) of their choice. Their new body is returned to life as a young adult, with any of their physical ailments or disabilities cured. If the soulforge dies again within 7 days of being returned to life, their body and equipment does not dissipate, and they are not returned to life.
