These fabled actors have mastered the art of combining veilweaving with their stage performances, effortless swapping between veils and roles in both theatre and combat.

Veilweaving[]

A veiled actor learns to shape the magical power known as akasha into powerful veils, which are drawn from the vizier veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. However, they do not gain the ability to shape Ring-slot veils. The veiled actor uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the veiled actor’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the veiled actor’s veilweaving modifier.

The veiled actor can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 1 veil at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 3rd and 5th level.

At 1st level, the masked veilweaver gains access to a pool of essence which can be invested into their veils and other essence receptacles to increase their power. The masked actor gains a pool of essence equal to 1/2 their troubadour level, rounded up.

This replaces the troubadour’s casting, spell pool, and master actor class features, as well as their persona quirks gained at 3rd and 5th level, and their magic talents gained at 5th, 9th, 13th, and 17th level.

Veiled Personas[]

The veiled actor has ingrained their veilweaving so well into their personas that they may shape and utilize different veils for each of their personas. When creating a persona, the veiled actor chooses a veil list from the following list for each personas: daevic, eclipse, guru, nexus, radiant, stormbound.

When shaping their veils for the day, the veiled actor shapes different veils for each of their personas using their veils gained from veiled actor levels and from veils gained from the record keeper trope. The veiled actor does not gain the ability to shape veils from esoteric chakra using this ability (such as Blood or Storm veils). Each of these veils are shaped from the selected veil list chosen for that persona, rather than the veiled actor’s normal veil list. Whenever the veiled actor adopts a persona, all of their veils gained from veiled actor levels and the record keeper trope shaped by the base persona are suppressed and replaced by the veils of the chosen persona, and vice versa when the veiled actor returns to their base persona. Any essence invested in these veils is uninvested as part of this change, and any ongoing effects from a veil suppressed in this way immediately end, even if they wouldn’t normally be ended by the veil that created them being suppressed. This does not apply to instantaneous effects created by a veil. Veils bound to chakra slots remain bound when being suppressed and unsuppressed using this ability.

If the veiled actor has the ability to shape veils from a different source than their veiled actor levels or the record keeper trope, those veils are not affected when changing personas. In such a case, each persona’s shaped veils must be legal to be shaped alongside veils gained from other sources. For example: I persona could not have a Hands-slot veil shaped if the veiled actor has a Hands-slot veil shaped that would not be suppressed when they change their persona, unless they have the ability to shape multiple veils in that slot.

This modifies the troubadour’s personas class feature.

Method Actor[]

A veiled actor gains this ability at 7th level, rather than 1st level.

This modifies the veiled actor’s method actor class feature.

Greater Actor[]

A veiled actor gains this ability at 15th level, rather than 7th level.

This modifies the veiled actor’s greater actor class feature.

Low Chakra Binding[]

At 2nd level, the veiled actor gains access to a low chakra bind. Each day when they shape their veils, they can choose whether they wish to bind veils to the Feet or Hands slot. They can choose different binds for each of their personas. At 5th level, they additionally can choose between the Head slot, and can choose two binds rather than one.

Improved Essence Capacity[]

The veiled actor’s continued use of their veils have improved their ability to invest them with essence. At 9th, and 15th level the maximum essence capacity of all of their essence receptacles increases by 1.

Middle Chakra Binding[]

At 9th level, the veiled actor gains access to a middle chakra bind. Each day when they shape their veils, they can choose whether they wish to bind veils to the Wrists, Shoulders or Headband slots. They can choose different binds for each of their personas. At 13th level, they choose two binds rather than one.

High Chakra Binding[]

At 17th level, the veiled actor gains access to a high chakra bind. Each day when they shape their veils, they can choose whether they wish to bind veils to the Neck, or Belt slot. They can choose different binds for each of their personas.

New Persona Tropes[]

Record Keeper[]

The record keeper is a master of hidden and ancient knowledge drawn from the akashic record itself. These aloof seekers of knowledge can be anyone from haughty and self-centered scholar who hoards their knowledge to a withdrawn sage willing to share their acquired lore only with those who are proven worthy.

Trope Benefit: You may use the higher of your Intelligence or your Charisma when using Knowledge skills, gain a pool of essence equal to half your troubadour level (rounded down, minimum 1), and increase the essence capacity of your essence receptacles by 1.

When you gain this trope, choose one Knowledge skill: you gain a +2 insight bonus to checks made using this skill. You can invest essence into this ability, for each point of essence invested the insight bonus to the selected knowledge skill is increased by 1.

Persona Quirks[]

Empowered Essence: You gain an additional 2 points of essence. This quirk can be selected multiple times, its effects stack.

Keeper of Knowledge (Ex): You gain the skill unlocks for a single Knowledge skill of your choice, in accordance with your ranks in that skill. This quirk can be selected multiple times, applying to an additional Knowledge skill each time you select it.

Knowledge from the Record (Su): Choose an additional Knowledge skill to apply the effects of this trope’s benefit to. Each selected Knowledge skill is treated as an individual essence receptacle when determining the bonuses for investing them with essence. You may select this quirk multiple times, choosing a different Knowledge skill each time it is selected.

Masterful Veilweaving: Increase the number of veils you can shape by 1. You may take this quirk multiple times, its effects stack. However, you can not select this quirk if it would allow you to shape a number of veils greater than 1 + 1 per odd troubadour level.

If you do not already have the ability to shape veils, your veilweaving modifier is your Charisma, your veilweaving level with these veils is equal to your troubadour level, and you may select one of the following veil lists to treat as your veil list for this ability: daevic, eclipse, guru, nexus, radiant, stormbound, or vizier. You do not gain the ability to shape veils to esoteric chakras using this ability (such as Blood, Storm, or Ring veils).

Recorded Training: You gain a single one of the following feats as a bonus feat: Access Higher Chakra Slot, Access Low Chakra Slot, Access Middle Chakra Slot, Enhanced Capacity, Shape Veil, Twin Veil. You ignore any ability score prerequisites for these feats, but must meet their other prerequisites as normal. You can select this quirk multiple times, gaining a new feat each time it is selected.

Veiled Mind: You gain Will of the Daeva as a bonus feat and gain a +2 bonus to your Will saving throws.

Veiled Actor Tropes[]

Mentor (Veiled Actor)[]

When selected by a veiled actor, the mentor trope instead grants the following trope benefit:

Trope Benefit: A mentor may combine spheres and talents to create magical effects. The mentor is considered a low-caster. If this is the first time they have gained the ability to cast spells using magic spheres, they may select a casting tradition. They do not gain 2 bonus talents as part of a tradition gained through this trope. In addition, the mentor gains a pool of spell points equal to 1/2 their troubadour level + their casting ability modifier. If the mentor has multiple casting classes, they instead add half their troubadour level when determining their spell points.
